As the Holy Spirit revealed the Father’s will to Jesus, so He reveals the Father’s heart to us.

You can always hear it when people start to rationalize about hell. It actually makes no sense to argue that we can chose hell over him and this thus proves we are free to love. The whole point of punishment is to push someone in the other direction, or else dole out punishment until they break.

Why can’t there be a third option? Perhaps people are just given more time after death to grow and mature. Perhaps God truly is PATIENT. Jesus, Paul, Moses– none of them every mentioned hell, or a place of eternal torment. If it was truly as we have been groomed by Christian tradition to believe, wouldn’t one of these leaders have at least mentioned it?

Anyhow, read some articles on tentmaker for a real scholastic treatment of the idea and translation of HELL in the bible. And if you’re really hungry for some scholastic truth in the bible that might set you free, do a study on preterist view of the end times and see if the new testament does not seem to make a lot more sense and open up possibilities about God you were never before trusted by the church to believe.

*I am one who follows God through Christ but believe most Christian tradition is contrary to the God whom Jesus Christ personified.
